The final list for the knockout round of the Champions League has been finished and sent in. To no surprise the usuals were inscribed with the inclusion of the fantastic Lass. However, there is one particular player that is getting quite some buzz for his presence on the list. Hungarian striker Adam Szalai who currently plays for Real Madrid Castilla is having a very impressive season and has not gone unnoticed by Juande Ramos. The 21 year old has created a superb partnership with Alberto Bueno (also in the CL list), scoring 14 times and becoming La Segunda B’s  top scorer so far. Already the press are comparing him to Zlatan Ibrahimovic a comment that I believe is to early to make from this young but maturing Hungarian striker. The similarities are there but the last thing one should do is to start labeling these young players. He is still to make a debut with Real Madrid, but Juande Ramos is well known to give the cantera players a chance, so Szalai may just have an opportunity pretty soon. The Killer of Valdebebas, tall with undeniable strength, may be the solution to an offense that at times lacks shine and most importantly the goal. With time and support, Szalai may turn out to be the answer to Madrid’s problems. For now he seems to be the savior of Real Madrid Castilla.

The Magic of Gourcuff

France Soccer

When a new young french player comes into the scene the media immediately labels them as the ‘new’ Zidane. Just like in Argentina with the ‘new Maradona’, these young Zidane wanna-be’s soon fade out due to all the pressure or just proved to be average. These young kids just never seem to be able to fill the giant shoes of these colossal iconic players. However, out of all the Zidane immitators there may be one that actual does posses the magic to fill in his role. Yoann Gourcuff has always been tapped as being the next Zidane but in his stint at AC Milan it seemed as though he would belong to the category that I described that goes into the abyss. However, on loan with the French club Bordeaux he is proving that he has the qualities to become a great player. There with the confidence and playing time he has become their star player. With stunning matches along with stunning goals in the Champions League and in the French League 1 he  has every rossoneri mouth watering with the hopes of his return. Then when I found this video of his goal against Paris Saint Germain it confirmed to me that the magic of this playmaker is the works of a true genius. The roulettes and the elegant movement as he caresses the ball is a carbon copy of the similar movements that Zidane graced his fans. Gourcuff may never reach the levels of the grand Zizou, but if he continues to play like this then he may come close.

His future is uncertain but Adriano Galliani has to fight hard to bring this talented player back to San Siro. It would be a costly mistake to do otherwise.

Sevilla football club is one of Spain’s greatest producer of native talent with great players coming out of their youth squad. This is evident when we hear of names like Sergio Ramos and Jose Antonio Reyes who all originated from Sevilla fc under divisions. Now their latest gem is midfielder Diego Capel.
With only 20 years of age he is one of Spain’s promising talent. He made his debut with Sevilla upper division squad in 2004 making him the second youngest player to debut for Sevilla. Since then he has not let down the club and the fans and captured the attention of elite clubs like Arsenal, Juventus and Manchester United. It is no surprise really when you watch the spectacular football display he puts on both in the domestic league and European stage. He already has several titles under his belt that would include U-17 European Champion, European Supercup and Uefa Cups. Not many young players have that in their resume.
There is not one match that I can recall not saying what “a great player”. A winger with endless air in his lungs and speed in his legs. He is constantly running and looking for an opportunity to score, never shying away from the goal. He is one to look out for because it is certain that Capel is undeniably talented. So get familiar with Diego Capel, I am sure you will be hearing more from him in the future.
