Little Brazilian Boy Blue

In Madrid’s desperate and never-ending chase for Cristiano Ronaldo they drove away one of Madrid’s best players away. Their obsession of obtaining in their hands the Portuguese winger at all costs have torn the relationship between Robinho and the merengues. No player wants to be the tool that helps to get you what you want. Even though the bosses of Madrid assured that this was not the case it is quite obvious what their true intentions really were. To make things worst between them they did not allow him to go to the Olympics with Brazil claiming of an injury, yet the player and the Brazilian federation knew well that it was nothing serious and certainly could have gone. This was the last straw that made him decide that he wanted to leave the ’White House’. They can show him as many highlight clips of his best moments at the club or even give him the captain’s armband, but there is no repairing the damage that has been done. According to Spanish reports he spoke to both President Calderon and Coach Schuster, and made it clear that he no longer wanted to be at the club and wanted to take part in Chelsea’s new project for the next season. The trip to London to play the Emirates Cup was the opportunity for Robinho to make his feelings clear and so he did. He also showed that Madrid had made a mistake to want to trade when he put on an exhibit of the classy way he played the ball against Hamburg. In his first game back he demonstrated what Madrid would be missing out on with his departure. Every ball he got a hold of he touched with the magic that only Brazilians really only posses of. Madrid now have to face the punishment of their actions and not fall into hypocrisy and simply let him go. A player that no longer wants be part of the institution for whatever reason it may be must be given his freedom to go to the club that he wants. After the way Madrid have treated him it would only be fair to release him. Madrid were looking for that star player and put their eyes on Ronaldo and all along it was on their bench with Robinho. Like it is commonly said, ”you don’t know what you got until its gone“, and that is the case with Robinho and Madrid. Possibly Robinho’s last game with Madrid is where he ended up wearing a kit very similar to the Blues. Irony? Maybe, but I think it was just meant to be.
